YOUR BODY NEEDS YOUR CARE

  1. SYSTEM AND SELF CARE
    Digestive System

DISORDERS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THEY OCCUR FREQUENTLY IN OUR
    COUNTRY
    Periodontal disease
The disease progresses to gingivitis (bleeding gums), bone loss, damage to periodontal
Membrane, recession of gums, bleeding and finally loss of tooth. The disease is due to plaque
Formatting and infection, and loss of calcium. This is seen in many children, and occurrence
    Increases with age.
    Self Care
Onset of the disease can be prevented by maintaining oral hygiene. This involves regular
Brushing of teeth, gum massage and regular visits to the dentist for removing plaque deposits and
    Nightly mouth wash.
    Dental Caries
It is important to realize that dental caries is a preventable disease, and not a vague degenerating
Or 'rotting' of the teeth which must be accepted.

Self Care
The worst enemies of the teeth are chewy candies, sweetened chewing gums,
Carbonated soft drinks containing concentrated sugars, sweet pastries, pies and cookies.
These should be limited.
-The mouth should be cleansed immediately after every meal or a snack.
-Brushing the teeth regularly and properly is the first step in preventing carieIt also prevents the deposition of plaque.
-Gums should be massaged thoroughly before brushing.
-A single thorough cleansing of the mouth at night before retiring can go a long way towards
Minimizing tooth decay and gum diseases.
Bad Breath
There are many causes of bad breath.
First, your mouth itself may be the source. Bacterial breakdown of food particles and other debris
In and around your teeth can cause a foul odor.
A dry mouth, such as occurs during sleep or as the result of some drugs or smoking, enables
dead cells to accumulate on your tongue, gums and cheeks. As a result, they decompose and
cause bad smell.
Eating foods containing oils with a strong odor causes bad breath.
Onions and garlic are the best examples, but other vegetables and spices also may cause bad
breath.
Self-care
For most people, bad breath can be improved by following a few simple steps:

-Clean your teeth and mount after every meal.
-Drink plenty of water (not coffee, pop or alcohol) to keep your mouth moist

Abdominal pain
Pain in your abdomen can start from anywhere along your digestive tract. In some cases, pain
can signal a mild problem such as overeating. In others, it can be an early warning sign of a more
serious disorder that may require medical treatment. (If your pain accompanies any other
conditions like: constipation, diarrhea, or vomiting seek help).
Fortunately, many forms of discomfort respond well to a combination of self-care like hot water
bottle or drink of milk if not supervised medical treatment is required.

Serious Pain
Although most abdominal pains are not serious, you should not attempt to diagnose the source of
new or unexplained pain. Seek medical attention if you experience any of the following:

-Intense pain lasting longer than a minute or pain that seems to be worsening.
-Pain accompanied by shortness of breath or dizziness
-Pain accompanied by a temperature of 101 F or more
