Hemolysis  The destruction of red blood cells leading to release of hemoglobin. It is the natural end for all aged cells.

Hemolytic disease ( hee mo li tik) Disorders that cause  destruction of red cells in large numbers . It  can occur in the infant due to incompatibility between the blood of the baby and the blood of the mother. It can also occur in adults due to mismatched blood transfusion.

Hemophilia ( hee mo filia ) An inherited disease; A lack of a specific clotting factor.
