GLOSSARY A-Z 94 informed cosent-inseminatiomn



Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.
 Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.

Informed consent  Consent  obtained from the patient after informing him of the risk and complications of a procedure or treatment in a language that he understands. The consent must be in writing .This is a legal requirement.
Infusion  Introduction of any sterile fluid in to a vein.
Inhalation therapy   Breathing in steam , vapour , gases or drugs for curing respiratory diseases
Insemination , artificial  ( I n semi n ashen ) The direct injection of sperm into the cervix with a syringe. This technique is adopted in infertility due to low sperm counts , cervical mucus problems , or impotence
