Glossary A-Z 5
Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.
They are in alphabetic order to provide ease of access.

Amnesia
Loss of memory;  see also head injury.
Analgesic   Any drugs that reduces pain , such as Acetaminophen ,  nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug
(NSAIDS)
Anastomosis   (e naste mo sis) The joining together of two hollow  tubes by a surgical operation.
Anaemia  Reduced oxygen carrying capacity of blood due to less hemoglobin in red cells and less number of red  cells. The individual looks pale and may complain of tiredness.
