GLOSSARY A-Z 31


Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.

Cholesterol       A type of fat in our diet and blood.

Christmas Disease  A clotting  disease like haemophilia, due to deficiency 
                                of Christmas factor in the blood of patients.

Chromosomes(kro mo zoms) One of the 30 thread like structures in the nucleus
                                               of human cells.Each chromosome is made up genes
                                               They carry messages that pass on the inherited
                                                characteristics.

Chronic                    A persistent(long standing) disease or
                                 condition
