GLOSSARY 37 Continence contraception convalescence convultions


Continence (kon ii nens)  The ability to control bowel and bladder function
Contraception  Prevention of pregnancy
Convalescence (con vai less ens) The phase of recovery after an illness, injury or operation. The patient though weak regains strength rapidly in this period with adequate nutrition
Convulsion (kon vul shen) Sudden muscular contractions not under patient’s control; he may be unconscious. Occurs in high fever, brain infection, brain injury and epilepsy
