Glossary 40 Cyanosis,cysts,cysticercosis,cystitis



Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding. 
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.

Cyanosis  (si e nosis) Bluish discolouration of the skin or lips due to lack of oxygen in the blood 
Cyst  (sist) An abnormal collection of fluid within a secreting gland or any other lined cavity in the body
Cysticercosis (sis ii ser kosis) Small round lesions in the brain due to pork or beef tape worm.
Cystitis (sis ty tis) Infection in the urinary bladder. May cause frequent urination and burning
