GLOSSARY A-Z 64 Felon Femur Fertility Ferilization




Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.

Felon  ( fel en ) An infection of the finger also called whitlow ;  it usually ends in pus formation and needs surgery
Femur  ( fee mer ) The bone in the thigh ; the  upper end is a part of the hip joint . The lower end  froms  the knee. 
Fertility  (fer til I tee ) In men , the ability to produce  sperm capable  of fertilizing ovum In women , the  ability to produce Ova and provide conditions for fertilization by sperm.
Fertilisation  The entry of the sperm into ovum. The union of  the sperm and ovum to from one cell.
