GLOSSARY A-Z 79 Hearing aid-heartburn


Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.

Hearing aid   Device that amplify sound can help to overcome hearing loss.

Heart attack  A sudden attack of pain  in the chest and sweating
Heart block  A block in the transmission of impulse that is responsible for a regular heart beat. This may stop the heart beat  ( complete block ) or may make it may make it irregular. A cardiologist’s advice is required.
Heart  burn A burning sensation  in the  lower chest in the midline resulting in excess acid secretion by the stomach causing injury to the lower end of the esophagus. Milk or antacids relieve the symptoms.
