GLOSSARY A-Z 125



Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.

Oto-rhino-laryngology    Medical term for  the study of ear, nose and throat (ENT).
Out patient Patient receiving treatment without admission to a hospital/clinic
Ovary   (over ee)  The female gonad that provides ova
Ovulation (o vyu la shen) The release of the mature ova from the ovary normally occurs once in 25 days, approximately 14 days prior to the start of the next menstruation
Pacemaker    A pacemaker may be required in cases of poor rhythm of heart beat. The device is implanted under the skin linked to the heart. The device generates a regular electric stimulus which cause the heart to beat.
