ENABLING SELF CARE

Enabling Road Map

Self care primer

To kick-start the self care agenda, the defining of the contents of the primer is the initial task.

It will involve, the health care community,(Deans of medical schools) to identify the tasks to be assigned, to the citizen Self care is an emerging concept in developed countries; its role is well recorded in relation to chronic disease management linked to a functioning robust health care system.

In developing countries with overburdened Health Care Systems (HCS) self care has a larger crucial functional role; a self-reliant community has to occupy the the vast space prior to the HCS to exercise self help and reduce the burden on the HCS.

There is an urgent need for a prerequisite primer to enable the community to participate in this task.

This text can help the community to be self care literate for home practice, and connect with the HCS when required.

The defining of the Primer gives this approach a legitimacy, and acceptance as a part of the HCS’s agenda

Feedbacks and updates will keep the primer relevant at all times in the future.
