THE MUSCLE WORLD
HUMAN BODY
Muscular System 2
VARIOUS TYPES MUSCLES The world of muscle
Body muscle
Skeletal muscles give the body, its weight and its shape.
There are more than 600 separate muscles in the body.
These muscles are also called the Voluntary muscles since they are under the control of the brain, which causes contraction through messages sent to the muscles through the nerves.
The leg muscles are voluntary muscles and when you play football you run and kick the ball.
The instruction come from the brain and reaches the leg muscle in less than a second and you can run and kick the ball.
Heart
The heart is made of a type of muscles called cardiac muscle. This muscle contracts without you knowing it (automatic) 1, 00,000 times in a day in a regular rhythm (70-80 beats per minute).
As the requirement is to beat (contract) day and night this muscles is supplied with large quantity of oxygen and glucose through the blood supply.
The cardiac muscle fiber branch, and interlink this provides strength, and the interlinking provides easy spread of electric signal, for contraction of muscle.
Internal Organs
Other internal organs (intestines) have a smooth muscle which contracts automatically without your knowledge or control, to move food forward in the intestines.
It also regulates the flow of blood in the arteries, and veins, by making them smaller or large through contraction, or relaxation, of smooth muscle in the walls of these vessels.
