BLOOD PRESSURE 1

The blood pressure goes up under stress and after exercise in a

any person but comes down after some time.

High blood pressure at rest (Pressure in the main

arteries) occurs in those aged 30-50 years, and seen in a 10-20% of the urban population.

Some of the factors that increase the risk of high blood pressure are;

* Obesity (over weight)

* Stress (at work, home)

* High sodium intake

* High alcohol intake

* Diabetes,

* Family history of hypertension and

* Sedentary life with no exercise

Most patients have no specific complaints and may not be aware of

high blood pressure.

Some may complain of headache.

Given below is a table of blood pressure, ranging from normal BP

to severe hypertension.
