COMMON AILMENTS A-Z

DENTAL PROBLEMS

IMPACTED WISDOM TOOTH

An impacted tooth does not come out through the gums, or pushes only halfway through.
This happens most frequently in the case of the third molars( the
wisdom tooth) in adults  Fig above.

If a tooth fails to come through, causing pain or swelling,
consult your dentist.
Only he, with the help of his X-ray, will
be able to tell you what should be done.
Surgery is necessary to remedy this condition and can be performed in  the  dentist's office.
Sometimes this procedure may be so complicated and it is
better done in a hospital operating room.
