GALL STONES 2

The symptoms are

* Repeated attacks of Pain (Cholecystitis)
* Indigestion (discomfort, heaviness) after fatty foods
* They sometimes have pain and jaundice
Gallstones can cause intense and sudden pain that may last for
hours.
The pain usually begins shortly after eating. It starts in
your upper right abdomen and may shift to your back or right
shoulder blade.
Fever and nausea also may accompany the pain.
After your pain subsides, you may notice a mild aching sensation
or soreness in your upper right abdomen. If a gallstone blocks
your bile duct, your skin and the whites of your eyes may turn
yellow (jaundice).
You may also develop a fever or pass pale, clay-colored stools.
Only about twenty per cent of gall stone affected people, exhibit symptoms.
Ultrasound tests can be used to detect gall bladder stones.
Self Care
* Avoid sugar and fats if you are overweight and increase the
fiber content in the diet.
* If a person does not have any symptoms, diet alone could be
sufficient care.
* If symptoms are present, and operation (cholecystectomy) might
be necessary.
Drugs containing chenodeoxycholic acid can dissolve the stone in some cases.
