NOSE BLEED

NOSE BLEED
Nasal bleeding due to any cause is referred to as epistaxis.
It is a fairly common complaint among adults and children.
Bleeding occurs from the delicate mucosal lining of the nose when
there is infection, inflammation,or injury due to nose picking.
Drying mucosa,
Hypertension, liver disease, clotting abnormalities are some other causes.
If the mucosal lining is injured due to any one of these causes,
the blood vessels open up, resulting in a nose bleed.
Self care
* Make the patient sit up and apply pressure by pinching the
nostrils below the nosal bones, for 10-20 minutes.
· If bleeding does not stop, consult an ENT specialist.
· If the bleeding is after a head injury take the patient to the
hospital.
