GLOSSARY A-Z 34 consent, contact lens,continence, constipation

Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.
They are in alphabetic order to provide ease of access.

Consent  
To
voluntarily accept a planned treatment or procedure. This is a legal requirement in medicine.
Constipation Reduced bowel movement(or hard stool)
Contact lens  A soft plastic or glass disc that fits the front of the cornea to correct defects of short or long sight. They are an alternative to spectacles.
Continence (kon ii nens)  The ability to control bowel and bladder function(To go when you want to)
