GLOSSARY A-Z 60 Epilepsy episiotomy erythema esophagus

Epilepsy  ( epi lepsi ) A manifestation of brain dysfunction. The  patient  has  repeated attacks of  consciousness and muscular contractions ( convulsions )
Episiotomy  ( epee si  otomi )  An incision made on the outer edge of  birth canal to enlarge it during delivery
Erythema  ( eri thee ma )  Red  colouration  of skin ; a sign of excess blood and inflammation
Esophagus  (ee so fay gus ) The food pipe that connects the mouth to the stomach
