GLOSSARY A-Z 87 Hydrocaphalus Hypernepheroma Hyperglycemia Hypertension



Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.

Hydrocephalus ( hai dro kef al us )  Increased volume of cerebrospinal fluid ( CSF )  retained in and around the brain. Children present with  enlarged head. This condition needs surgical care.
Hypernephroma ( hi per ne fro ma ) A ( malignant ) tumour of the kidney. The patient presents with blood in the urine or a large lump in the flank. Surgical care is required.
Hyperglycaemia  A condition  of excess glucose in the blood ( normal 80-120 mg/1 ). This is a sign of diabetes.
Hypertension  High blood pressure .measured in your arm.
