GLOSSARY A-Z 89 Iatrogenic- Idiosyncrasy


Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.

Iatrogenic disorder  (air o jen ik ) Disorder resuting  from any treatment ( medical or surgical ) including drugs.
Id  According to Freud , the  subconscious  self that  provides the  inner  drive of a person  ( see also ego )
Idiopathic  disorder ( e di o path ik  )  Disorder for which the cause is not yet  understood.
Idiosyncrasy ( e di o sing  kresee ) Unusual  unexplained eccentric behaviour in a person.
