Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.
They are in alphabetic order to provide ease of access.

Laparoscopy A viewing of abdominal organs through a small incision,a tube with
camera is introduced,organs focused and viewed,biopsy can also be taken.This aids diagnosis.
Laparotomy  Viewing organs of the  abdomen through an incision in its wall. The objectives  are similar to laparoscopy.
Laser  ( la zer ) Short  for light amplication by stimulated emission of  radiation. A source of intense light ; light of various frequencies is merged into a single beam of one frequency. This beam has intense heating power.
Lavage The washing out of normal and  abnormal body cavities
