GLOSSARY A-Z 105 malpresantation-mania



Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.

Malpresentation (mal prez en tay shen) Any abnormal position of  the fetus in the uterus other then head first. These positions will make birth more difficult. Thus there is a need for antenatal care and correction.
Mammogram An X-ray beam passed through the soft tissue of the breast in two planes at 90˚ to each other. The shadow cast is recorded on a X-ray plate. Even small dense segments can be visualized.
 Mammoplasty (mam o plasti) A surgical procedure to increase or decrease the size of the breast for an acceptable cosmetic result
Mania (ma nea) A mental disorder marked by emotional excitement, lack of self control and violent behaviour
