GLOSSARY A-Z 107

 
Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding. 
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.
They are in alphabetic order to provide ease of access.

Megalomania A person who believes that he is of great importance. This belief is unshakeable and is also called delusion of grandeur.

Melanoma    A malignant enlargement of a coloured  mole. All moles should  be frequently checked for sudden enlargement , itching , bleeding , or smaller moles appearing around it. Consult a doctor.

Melena    Tar like appearance of stool. The dark colour is evidence of bleeding  from the  intestines or stomach (ulcer ) .This should be attended to immediately.
Menarche   (me nar  ke)  Onset of menstruation.
