GLOSSARY A-Z 108 Menopause-Metastasis

Menopasuse   (men e poz ) The  end of menstruation.Symptoms given in illustration above.

Menorrhagia    Heavy bleeding  during menstruation.

Metabolism   ( me tab o lizm ) The process of utilising  and generating energy. This has two parts: anabolism , the building of large molecules from  simpler smaller ones , and catabolism , the breakdown of large molecules into smaller ones to provide energy and smaller building blocks.

Metastasis  (  me ta ste sis ) The spread of malignant disease to other parts of the body. This may be through blood , lymphatics , or direct contact.
