GLOSSARY A-Z 112


Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding. 
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.
They are in alphabetic order to provide ease of access.

Narcotic   (nar kot ik)  A drug that reduces pain perception (analgesia) and causes lowered consciousness (drowsiness). These are natural (opiates): morphine, codeine, heroin and synthetic agents
Naturopathy    System of treatment that makes use of natural agents like fresh air, exercise, massage, diet, herbal medicine  and hydrotherapy for treatment of disorders.  It does not advocate the use of conventional drugs.
Nausea   Sensation of vomiting
Neck stiffness   Stiffness in the movements of the neck due to muscle spasm. It can be due to arthritis of spine displacement, spasm due to sleeping or working in an abnormal position.
