GLOSSARY A-Z 111 mutation-myeloma


Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.

Mutation   (mu t ashen)  A change occurring in an organism. This change in characteristic is because of a genetic mutation.
Mycosis   (my ko sis ) An infection caused by a fungus of the hands, lungs or abdominal wall, e.g., actinomycosis
Myelogram  (my elo gram) X-ray examination of the spinal canal after injecting a radio-opaque dye
Myeloma  Cancer of the bone marrow tissue
