 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.

Perforation   Hole in wall of a hollow organ. A peptic ulcer can cause perforation & peritonitis  

Periodontal disease   Inflammation and disease around the tooth starting as gingivitis causes bleeding gums.

Peristalsis (peri stal sis)  The contraction wave of the muscle wall of the intestine. This occurs during digestion

Peritonitis  (peri toe ny tis)  Inflammation of the peritoneal lining of the abdomen. It can occur as a result of perforation.
