GLOSSARY A-Z 152



Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding. 
 
Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.
They are in alphabetic order to provide ease of access.

Suppository ( se poz a tori) A medicated cone that helps to stimulate bowel action in case of constipation.
Syncope  ( skin ko pee ) Fainting. Temporary loss of consciousness  because of lack of blood to the brain ( low BP )
Systole The contraction  of heart  muscle .This ejects the column of blood forward in the arteries.
Tachycardia  ( tak I kar dea )  Rapid heart beat of more than 100/min.
