Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding. 
 Given below are the terms which you would come across in the discussion.

Ulcer   ( ul ser ) The death of surface covering cells of the  skin  or intestines. This results in infection of the exposed deeper surface and persistence of this  uncovered infected area. This is an ulcer.

Ultrasound    High frequency sound waves bounce  off body tissues. The reflected waves are picked up and reconstructed in to an image. This helps in diagnosis. There is no radiation exposure in this test

Undescended testis      An  empty scrotum on one or both sides. 

Uric acid  Another product of break down of some special proteins. Excess uric acid should be followed up with detailed analysis  of the components urine.
