COMMON AILMENTS A-Z

BACK PAIN 2

You may feel sore(pain) immediately after you've injured a muscle, as

in 1+2+3 in Back Pain 1 above this is acute strain.

Or it may take several hours before it feels sore as in 4-7 this

is chronic strain.

An injured muscle may tighten or "knot up" (a muscle spasm).

Your body is telling you to slow down and prevent further injury.

A severe muscle spasm may last 48 to 72 hours,

Followed by; days or weeks of less severe pain.

Strenuous use of an injured muscle during the next 3 to 6 weeks

may bring back the pain.

Most back pains are gone in 6 weeks with rest.

Preventive Self Care

As you age, muscle tone decreases, and your back is more likely to be

strained with minor effort.

Daily routine exercise to maintain muscles tone and strengthen your abdominal and back muscles will prevent strain injury.

Spend 10 to 15 minutes a day doing gentle stretching and toning exercises.

Lie on your back pressing your heels and head into the bed.

Lie on your face raise up head and legs.

Both these exercises will not aggravate pain, they will relieve the pain.
