COMMON AILMENTS A-Z

DIABETES 2

SYMPTOMS
The general symptoms of diabetes are:
* Extreme tiredness,
* Persistent thirst
* Increased frequency of urination
* High blood pressure
Diabetes can be diagnosed by testing for the presence of sugar in
the urine and blood.
Most diabetics are discovered on routine examination by the physician.
Treatment
People suffering from insulin dependent diabetes need daily
injections of insulin supplements.
A strict diet is important in controlling diabetes, to keep the levels of insulin and sugar in the blood from fluctuating too widely.
Careful coordination of food intake and insulin injections are necessary to prevent insulin shock.
Non-insulin dependent diabetes is usually easier to control.
Some cases are treated by diet alone,
others with controlled diet, and
oral antidiabetic drugs
Long acting insulin is also being used in cases long standing type 11 diabetes
