GLOSSARY A-Z 154



Technical terms come up in discussion with your physician at various stages of your meeting/ encounters with him.
 If the meaning of these terms is lost on you, you do not benefit from the discussion.
 It is therefore important that you understand the meaning and content of these terms.
This not only helps you to understand fully what is said but also helps you to ask question to clarify issues raised by your understanding.

Tetanus    Disease  caused by contamination of wounds by tetanus bacteria. These are  present in the soil.
Tetany  Muscle cramps caused by low blood cacium
Thoracotomy  The opening  of the chest  for any surgical procedure
Thymus   A Gland situated in the midline behind the sternum. It is a part of the immune system and produces T Lymphocytes
